According to official data from the Ministry of Finance, in the four years of government mandate, spending on the Urban Renaissance program is estimated at about $ 440 million.
The program has funded hundreds of projects, mainly in urban centers but not just, which have changed the face of many cities in the country.
But the opposition accuses the Urban Revival of abusing public funds for the façade, while the country has more urgent needs.
"Four years has spent 16 billion euros budget. Urban Renaissance, 400 mln euro. 16 million euros has been devoted to the square. Only fireworks have cost between 200 and 400 thousand euros according to experts. How many would have received subsidies with this money if they had gone to the farmers? How many families would have received economic aid? "Said Basha at one of the electoral meetings.
But the accusations of the mayor of the opposition, the prime minister responded immediately and in his style. "Critics, Urban Renaissance have defined them as the facade. I do not consider negative facial word. I also told Lul that if you do not consider the façade important, why do you create it? The same goes for urban spaces, "Rama said in a similar meeting.
But Urban Emergency was not only attacked by the opposition, but also by Rama's four-year ally in government, the Socialist Movement for Integration. In addition to the political clashes of recent weeks, the SMI attack on the Urban Revival may have another motive.
In four years, the program has diverted $ 440 million from the Ministry of Transport controlled by the SMI to the region's development fund, which is under the direct Rama's dependence.
"Up until yesterday Saliu was guilty. After the tent SMI blamed. Do you feel any guilt that in the last four years has massacred the budget of road infrastructure and agriculture, to paint shed trees that dry out without leaves, "said Transport Minister Sokol Dervishaj.
But the prime minister also has an answer to the allies about the effect that Urban Renaissance has had on the national economy.
"We set up 641 yards from Tropoja to Konispol. These projects have injected money into the national economy by creating employment. We believe that if tourists have grown as a number in Albania, this is also related to this Urban Renaissance program, "said Rama.
