US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and his Qatar counterpart Khalid al Attiyah have reached a $ 12 billion deal for the sale of 36 F-15 fighter jets.
The news reports CBS News, recalling that just days before President Trump officially accused Qatar of financing terrorism.
"The sale will give Qatar a special status for its capabilities to maintain security and co-operate with the United States," a Pentagon statement said.
The US media recall that last year Congress had given green light a contract to supply 72 "F-15" aircraft to the government in Doha, paving the way for the agreement reached yesterday.
Certainly, it is a pact reached when Qatar's neighbors have not yet interrupted diplomatic and trade relations with it.
This action would give rise to a serious crisis involving the United States, which has placed 10,000 troops in Qatar.
