Rescue teams in London do not expect to find anybody alive in the high-rise building burned down by fire a day earlier.
12 are officially confirmed dead, while people continue to desperately seek family members or friends who are missing. Over 30 people remained hospitalized, 17 of whom were in serious condition. Prime Minister Theresa May promised full investigation of the incident, while many questions have arisen over the fact that the fire spread at such a daunting speed.
The causes of burns that took control of 24 hours were not yet fully revealed, although the media reportedly started fire from the explosion of a household appliance, possibly a refrigerator.
The Grenfell Tower had about 120 apartments and was home to about 600 people. The building is in an ethnically diverse, densely populated area of North Kensington, west of London.
